Pete Maxfield - acoustic double bass
First toured UK and Europe with the quartet Sphere 1976-1987. They won young jazz musicians of the year 1981 - recorded
two albums Sphere (Melody Maker no. 1) and Present Tense. The group launched the solo career
of Andy Sheppard who Pete
worked with from 1975-1991, but were musically led by pianist Geoff Williams - a major influence in the quartet.
Pete's main style is contemporary, but when he's playing as many as 300 gigs a year he uses many other styles - standards,
trad, rock, blues, indie and folk. He's recorded five CD albums with the ultra-versatile trio Trouble In Mind.
He's currently working on an album of originals playing Spanish Guitar.
